At our performances, poetry and music come together…

Songs From Here collaborates with Maine’s poets and composers to create locally-crafted classical song and unique performance experiences for our audiences. Each season, Sarah and Bridget put together a musical program that showcases brand-new songs written by Maine’s composers, featuring lyrics by Maine’s poets. The voice/piano duo bring their program to venues around the state - churches, schools, libraries…even barns!

These recitals are presented with a twist: at each concert, Songs From Here presents a local poet who reads their work in between musical selections, creating an interdisciplinary performance experience that seamlessly weaves together poetry and music. Each concert features a different poet (or poets), so no two performances are alike!

Our Maine-based artists are your friends, neighbours, teachers, and family. It is our hope that you see us as a reflection of our Maine community, and that you walk away from our performances feeling more connected to the unique beauty and character of our state, perhaps more inspired to create something of your own.
